For years, I was often the only woman—and/or the only person of color—in the room. I mastered key strategies that led to promotion after promotion, all while planning a wedding, buying a house, battling postpartum depression, and enduring the heartbreak and triumph of IVF. Twice, I was hired while pregnant—a feat so rare it defies conventional wisdom.
